Power Supply

How's this for a bumper sticker? "Solar: it's how we roll."

The power supply for the electric car will be primarily solar and wind. We have a set of panels on the house now and are adding a windmill this Fall. We are planning on more solar for the barn. It's the peel and stick kind that just fits directly onto a standing seam roof.

Here it is:

  1. I thought you were saying that was going to be your license plate. I thought it was awfully long for a license plate. Works much better as a bumper sticker!

  2. Any details on the wind turbine installation design? I remember a number of trees on your property - what height are you planning to get out of the turbulence zone and into the part of the airspace with the most energy?

    If you need help obtaining permission to have a sufficiently high enough tower, let me know and I'll come speak at any planning commission or BoS meeting that you need support at.

  3. Thanks, Will. The windmill was ordered quite a while ago and still has not arrived. I'm beginning to consider disputing the charges and shopping elsewhere.

    On one hand, I'd like the height to be the maximum legally allowed. On the other hand, it's too expensive to hire a crane every time access is needed. One possibility is a 35', four-footed, climbable tower and a liftable pole in the center that can extend another 15' or so.

  4. A tilt tower may be something to consider;
